Ᾱlambana 2023 Photography Competition and Exhibition organized by the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Kelaniya were held on the 11^th and 12^th of May 2023 at the K3 building of the university.

The inauguration ceremony of this event was held under the patronage of Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Out of 500 photographs submitted for the photography competition, 80 photos were selected for the exhibition.  Hashan Dhananjaya of the Department of Physics and Electronics won first place in the competition while K. H. C. U. Priyankara of the Department of Geography and Prasad Madusanka of the Visual Arts & Design and Performing Arts Unit won second place and third place respectively. Moreover, 10 merit awards were offered to selected winners in the competition.

The Heads of Departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities, the directors of the Communication and Media Unit and Research Centre for Social Sciences (RCSS) also participated in this event.
