An educational discussion between the Kanazawa, and Chukyo Universities of Japan with the University of Kelaniya was held on 5th September 2023 at the office premises of the Vice Chancellor, University of Kelaniya.

The discussion was on educational research related to the inter-university sport education and social sciences and agreed to provide Japanese scholarships under the Inter-University Student Exchange programs.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Professor Tetsuya Sagawa from Kanazawa University, Professor Shohei Kokudo, Professor Tohiru Koizo, and Professor Takahiro Nakano, from Chukyo University, had an extensive discussion. Senior Lecturer M. K. A. Anoma Rathnayaka, Head of the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, and the academic staff of the same department also participated in the discussion.  Senior Lecturer Dr. Charika Wickramaratne, Department of Sport Science and Physical Education, was the coordinator.
