The 6th International Studies Students’ Research Symposium

The 6th International Studies Students’ Research Symposium, themed “Building Post-Pandemic Resilience Through Research,” organized by the International Studies Students’ Association of the Department of International Studies concluded successfully on 11th October 2023 at the University of Kelaniya.

A total of over 70 research papers, representing students from universities across the country, were presented under nine distinct sub-themes, including geopolitics, international law, human rights, and foreign policy. This symposium demonstrated the commitment of budding scholars to contribute to post-pandemic resilience through their research endeavors. Ms. Thedini Herath, undergraduate of the Department of International Studies won the award for the best research paper.

The Keynote Speaker, Professor Dammika Herath, from the Department of Sociology at the University of Peradeniya, shared invaluable insights into the subject.

The symposium witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya as the Chief Guest. Moreover, Prof. M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Prof. Chaminda Abeysinghe, Head of the Department of International Studies, were also present at the event.
