The launch of the book “Manual of Zen” translated by Prof. S.B. Hettiarachchi and Dr. Bhikkhu Ho Beop was held on the 29^th of August at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The book is composed as an English translation of a collection of Zen stories written by Dahui.

Dr. Bhikkhu Ho Beop is the Director of English Research Centre of Buddhist Text- Korea while Prof. S.B. Hettiarachchi is its Chief Advisor.

Laureate Prof. Sunanda Mahendra delivered the keynote speech associating Buddhist Zen Stories and that added some significance to the event. The event was held with the patronage of Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathne, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences. Senior Lecturer Mrs. Nadeera Hewawasam, Head- Department of History including the Heads of the Departments, academic staff members, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar and Mr. L.A. Jayatissa, Librarian also graced the event.

The event was organized by the Department of History of the University of Kelaniya.

On the same day, this book was dedicated to Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University by Prof. S.B. Hettiarachchi and Dr. Bhikkhu Ho Beop at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor.
