The Muhurath Ceremony of the film “Viyasiduru” produced by the first batch of the Diploma in Film and Television offered by the Drama & Theatre and Image Arts Unit, Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya was held on the 05^th of September 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The script writer and the director of this film, which is a production of the University of Kelaniya will be Lecturer Mr. Prabath Agampodi, Coordinator of the Diploma in Film and Television. The film “Viyasiduru” is produced with the assistance of many experts in the field and Film and Television Diploma students including Kalana Gunasekara, Lakshman Mendis, Thumidu Dodanthenna, Shalani Tharuka and Dharmapriya Dias who will be the actors and actresses of the film.

Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Moreover, Senior Lecturer Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the University, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathne, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, academic staff members of the Department of Fine Arts and other departments, artists who assist in the production of the film and undergraduates were also present at the occasion.
