Certificate Award Ceremony of Three Diploma Programmes Offered by the Department of Mass Communication

The distribution of certificates to the students who have successfully completed the Diploma in Mass Communication, Diploma in Public and Media Relations and Higher Diploma in Public Relations offered by the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya was held on the 12th of August 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The 14th batch of the Diploma in Mass Communication, the 03rd batch of the Diploma in Public and Media Relations and the 01st batch of Higher Diploma in Public Relations received the certificates at the ceremony.

The certificates were distributed to 45 students of Diploma in Mass Communication, 39 students of Diploma in Public and Media Relations and 23 students of Higher Diploma in Public Relations. The students who scored the highest marks in each diploma programme received gold medals and G.R. Sujeewa Kithsiri of Diploma in Mass Communication, S.M. Nilesha Kumari Samarakoon of Diploma in Public and Media Relations and H.M. Rakitha Bandara of Higher Diploma in Public Relations received the gold medals.

The keynote speech of the event was delivered by the Psychiatrist Prof. Harischandra Gambheera on ‘Media, Psychology and Human Behavior’. Prof A.H.M.H. Abayarathne, Dean- Faculty of Social sciences graced the event as the Chief Guest. Moreover, Senior Lecturer Mr. Aruna Lokuliyana, Head- Department of Mass Communication, Senior Lecturer Mr. Dhammika Bandara Herath, Coordinator of the Diploma in Mass Communication, Senior Lecturer Mrs. Dinithi Jayasekara, Coordinator of the Diploma in Public & Media Relations, Senior Lecturer Mr. Darshana Somarathne, Coordinator of the Higher Diploma in Public Relations including the academic staff members of the Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Pujith Jayasundara, Inspector- General of Police, diploma students and their parents were present at the occasion.
