“Pranama 2016/17” awards ceremony organized by the Welfare Association of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 28^th of August 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The ceremony was held with the objective of appreciating the retired non-academic staff members and the children of the non- academic staff members who performed well in the G.C.E (O/L) and G.C.E (A/L) in the years of 2016 and 2017 and who passed the Grade 5 scholarship examination.

31 retired non- academic staff members in the years of 2016/17 were appreciated at the ceremony. Moreover, two students who passed the Grade 5 scholarship examination, ten students who performed well in the G.C.E (O/L) examination and five students who performed well in the G.C.E (A/L) examination in the year of 2016 and eight students who passed the Grade 5 scholarship examination, ten students who performed well in the G.C.E (A/L) examination, 13 students who performed well in the G.C.E (A/L) examination in the year of 2017 were also appreciated.

The event was held with the patronage of Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar, Mr. B.A.N. Krishantha, Deputy Registrar, Board of Officers and the members of the Welfare Association also graced the event.
