The first series of the Excavation of Mantai Collaborative Archaeological Research Project was held from 21st of November to 18th of December, 2019 at Mantai Ancient Port Site.
It was initiated in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Department of Archaeology, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and School of History and Culture, Sichuan University, China.
The Archaeological Research Project was succeeded under the supervision of Senior Lecturer Dr. Mangala Katugampola, Head- Department of Archaeology with the aim of gaining international opportunities for excavation.
Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kelaniya graced the event. Furthermore, Senior Lecturer Dr. Mangala Katugampola, Head- Department of Archaeology, academic staff members of the Department of Archaeology along with the undergraduates of the Department of Archaeology who are specialized in Archaeology attended this China-Sri Lanka Collaborative Archaeological Research Excavation.
