Two Members of The University of Kelaniya Wushu Team Clinched 1st Place at the 18th National Wushu Championships - 2024

The University of Kelaniya Wushu Team achieved a historic milestone by participating in its inaugural National Championship. Two outstanding performers, K. R. Keshalika and B. L. I. Anuththara, showcased their talents at the 18th National Wushu Championships 2024.
They were trained by Wushu coach Mr. Ruchira Bodhinagoda, and. Ms. K. R. Keshalika secured 1st place in the Cha-Quan Style with a stunning performance, and Ms. B. L. I. Anuththara achieved 1st place in the Fanzi-Quan style with excellence.
The tournament featured competitions in Taolu, Sanda, and Traditional Kung-Fu divisions, where the champions excelled in Individual Events under the Kung-Fu (Traditional) category.
The event took place at the National Youth Center Maharagama from 10th to 13th March 2024. It was graced by distinguished guests, including Hon. Manusha Nanayakkara - the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment of Sri Lanka, Dr. Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando - the Director General of Sports, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and Mr. Manel Dharmakeerthi - the President of the Sri Lankan Wushu Federation (SLWF).
This remarkable achievement, attained in accordance with International Standards, marks a momentous advancement for the University of Kelaniya Wushu Team.
