The Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya has once again shown its strong commitment to uplifting student sports by contributing towards the sports nutrition programme for student-athletes preparing for the Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) 2025 hosted by the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. 

The official handing over of the sponsorship was held on 7th July 2025 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, University of Kelaniya. The contribution was formally presented to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, by the President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Raja Premadasa.

This valuable contribution will help cover part of the nutrition expenses for over 600 student-athletes representing 38 men’s and women’s teams in 23 different sports disciplines as they prepare for SLUG 2025, which will be held from 2nd to 21st September 2025.

The event was attended by Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Chairman of the Sports Advisory Board; Professor Ven. Malwane Chandrarathana Thero, Secretary of the Alumni Association; Mr. G. G. U. Saman Kumara, Director of Physical Education; Instructors of Physical Education; and the university’s cricket and rugby teams.
