University of Kelaniya Secures Positions as Champions and 02nd Runners-up at the 01st Virtual Inter University Karate Kata Championship 2021

01st Virtual Inter University Karate Championship 2021 organized by the University of Peradeniya was held from 18th to 26th of November. It was powered by Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association (SLUSA).
97 men and 94 women players representing University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Moratuwa, University of Ruhuna, University of Jaffna, Eastern University Sri Lanka, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, Sabaragamuwa University, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, Uva Wellassa University, and University of the Visual and Performing Arts participated in the championship.
The competition was held in 02 rounds and top 08 ranking players were qualified for the 02nd round. The results were announced at the virtual closing ceremony including awarding which was held on the 26th of November.
University of Kelaniya Women Karate Team emerged as the Champions of the Women Category while Men’s Karate Team won the 2nd runner-up in men’s category.
Following undergraduates of University of Kelaniya won the places in their particular event categories.
