“SMASHES 2022”, a Badminton Tournament organized by the Badminton team of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was held from 13^th to 17^th of July 2022 at the Mercantile Badminton Association (MBA) Courts, Colombo 07.

The University of Kelaniya became the 1st Runner-up at the tournament Invitational University Doubles Team Championship.

Team Kelaniya got selected for the Final round after beating National School of Business Management (NSBM) Team B by 3/0 and Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) by 3/0 in the Group stage and NSBM Team ‘A’ in the Semi-finals by 3/0. After a hard-fought battle with Team Sri Jayewardenepura, Team Kelaniya managed to win the 1st Runner-up. Nine (9) teams battled in the Invitational University category. Team Sri Jayewardenepura became Champions and NSBM Team ‘A’ won the 2^nd Runner-up. Each match was composed of two women’s doubles, two men’s doubles, and one mixed double.
