A Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Kelaniya and VIA University College Viborg, Denmark was signed on 7^th February 2023 under the auspices of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

The event was conducted in hybrid mode.

VIA University is comprised of eight colleges and the Viborg campus facilitates student exchange, overseas internships, and summer schools.

The avenues envisaged for collaboration between the two institutions are;

• Staff exchange, academic discourse leading to collaborative research and joint publications, knowledge sharing, and knowledge transfer through virtual or onsite sessions.
• Cultural and Linguistic Exchange for students to broaden their horizons and linguistic competence, i.e., English language skills
• International exposure for the students at both universities by participating in Summer Schools and undergraduate mobility projects for students of the University of Kelaniya and internship for VIA University students.

The University of Kelaniya was represented by Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, the Registrar, Senior Professor Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, Centre for International Affairs, Mr. K. B. S. L. Wijeratne, Deputy Registrar, Faculty of Graduate Studies who initiated the collaboration, Ms. Sashini Chandrasekara, Coordinator, International Cooperation and Ms. Sanduni Iddamalgoda, Coordinator, International Student Affairs. Prof. Flemming Østerby Arnfred, Professor of Psychology, Ms. Birgitte Vigsø Henningsen, International Administrative Coordinator representing VIA University and Mr. Ian Birbeck, Partnerships Director, Projects Abroad, UK, Mr. Gishan Perera, Projects abroad Sri Lanka participated online.
