The Capital Maharaja Group’s Inter-University Debating Tournament was held in conjunction with the celebration of “Human Rights Day 2023” to commemorate the 75^th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The University of Kelaniya Sinhala Debate Team emerged victorious in the final debate which was held on the 21^st of November 2023 at the Capital Maharaja Group Headquarters, Colombo.

15 Universities participated in the tournament and the University of Kelaniya Debate Team emerged victorious over the University of Colombo Debate Team in the championship round. A cash prize of LKR 250000 will be awarded to the winners in the awarding ceremony on 10^th December 2023.

The members of the debate team were Gimhan Rupasinghe, Sanka Daminda, Sahan Senevirathna, Budara Lojinie Pieris, Isuru Jayasundara, Naadiya Kumarasiri, Nipuni Maddumage, Arjun Dilshan Jayawardana, and Chamal Wickramasinghe.
