The debate team of the University of Kelaniya clinched the championship title at the Inter-University Human Rights Debate Competition 2024, organized by the Capital Maharaja Group (CMG) in parallel with International Human Rights Day. This marked their second consecutive victory, reaffirming their dominance in the debate arena.

During the final round, held on the 4^th of December 2024, at the Capital Maharaja premises, the University of Kelaniya secured a unanimous 3:0 victory against the Sri Lanka Law College. The competition featured 19 universities from across the island, making the win a testament to Kelaniya’s exceptional debating prowess.

The University of Kelaniya’s team comprised Isuru Jayasekara, Chamal Wickremasinghe, Nipuni Udara, Kulana Jayasinghe, Asela de Silva, Vikum Abeysinghe, Abhishka Pasindu, Manisha Rajapaksa, Arjun Dilshan, and Nadia Kumarasiri, who delivered stellar performances throughout the event.
