147th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya

The 147th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 12th of December 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.
The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1st session, 104 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, and 421 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (General) Degree, and 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree, offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, were conferred.
During the 2nd session, 515 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, were conferred.
During the 3rd session, 06 graduands of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree, 01 graduand of the Master of Philosophy Degree, 13 graduands of the Master of Science Degree, 07 graduands of the Master of Arts Degree, and 71 graduands of the Postgraduate Diploma, offered by the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology, 168 graduands of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree, 26 graduands of the Speech and Hearing Science (Speech and Language Therapy) Bachelor of Science Honours Degree, and 19 graduands of the Speech and Hearing Science (Audiology) Bachelor of Science Honours Degree, offered by the Faculty of Medicine, and 05 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy, 02 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Auditing and Forensic Accounting Degree, 09 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance, 04 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Financial Engineering, 02 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Insurance, 02 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Banking, 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing, 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Human Resources, 02 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree, 03 graduands of the Commerce (Special) Degree in Financial Management, 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Business Technology, and 02 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Entrepreneurship, offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, were conferred.
At this session, Ven. Aludeniye Subodhi Thero was awarded the Senaka Bandaranayake Gold Medal for the most outstanding academic achievement in Environmental Archaeology; Senarath Paranawithana Gold Medal for the most outstanding academic achievement in Epigraphy and Numismatics; Sir Alexander Cunningham Gold Medal for the most outstanding academic achievement in Archaeological Research Thought; Siran Deraniyagala Gold Medal for the most outstanding academic achievement in Pre and Proto History; and Lord Colin Renfrew Gold Medal for the most outstanding overall academic achievement in Archaeology. Mohommed Azmi Ashik Ahamed was awarded the Professor Carlo Fonseka Memorial Gold Medal for the best overall performance of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree; Most Ven. Sri Pragnarama Thero Memorial Gold Medal for obtaining the highest marks at the Final Examination for Medical Degrees, offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya; Professor Asoka Dissanayaka Gold Medal for obtaining highest marks at the First Examination for Medical Degrees; Prof. Lal Chandrasena Gold Medal for obtaining the highest marks at the First Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Physiology for obtaining the highest marks at the First Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Anatomy for obtaining the highest marks at the First Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Forensic Medicine for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Medical Microbiology for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Pathology for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Pharmacology for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal for the Best Performance for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Surgery for obtaining the highest marks at the Final Examination for Medical Degrees; Gold Medal in Psychiatry for obtaining the highest marks at the Final Examination for Medical Degrees; and the Gold Medal in Obstetrics & Gynecology for obtaining the highest marks at the Final Examination for Medical Degrees. Noor Mohomed Safiya was awarded the Prof. Sheila Wirz Memorial Gold Medal for best performance in Audiology. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Dasunika Isurindi Dissanayake was awarded the Prof. Sheila Wirz Memorial Gold Medal for best performance in Speech and Language Therapy. Malagammanage Sudarika Ruwandeepani was awarded the Gold Medal in Family Medicine for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees. Rajapakse Koralage Don Dihan Shahindra Caldera was awarded the Gold Medal in Parasitology for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees, and the Gold Medal in Medicine for obtaining the highest marks at the Final Examination for Medical Degrees. Nirmitha Stefan Morel was awarded the Gold Medal in Public Health for obtaining the highest marks at the Second Examination for Medical Degrees. Amarasinghe Arachchige Sudeepa Nuwantha was awarded the Gold Medal in Pediatrics for obtaining the highest marks at the Final Examination for Medical Degrees.
