A delegation from Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Russia visited the University of Kelaniya on the 16^th of May 2025. The delegation comprised Prof. Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs; Ms. Anna Melenteva, Head of the International Affairs Department; Mr. Klimentiy Batoroev, Advisor to the Vice-rector; and Ms. Elizaveta Ivanova, Manager, International Admissions Office.

Held at the Senate Room, the meeting was attended by Senior Prof. S. R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. M. M. Gunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. K. G. H. D. Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; and Dr. Sudath Senerath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. Ven. Dr. Meemure Gunananda Thero, Senior Lecturer in Russian Language, Department of Modern Languages; Prof. W. M. Semasinghe, Head of the Department of Economics; and Prof. A. G. Amarasinghe, Dr. Saseeka Wijesekara, and Ms. Apsara Danasekara from Department of Geography were also present at the meeting. Dr. Samanthi Jayawardena, Deputy Director and Ms. Rasangi Gamage, Coordinator attended the meeting representing Centre for International Affairs.

Several potential partnership areas were discussed between the two parties including academic mobility, joint research and funding opportunities. Particular attention was given to opportunities available for students and staff members of Russian language to develop their language skills.
