Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 23rd of October 2025 at the Senate Room of the university.
Researchers whose papers were published in internationally recognized journals, were appreciated and the Senate Awards and Cash Prizes were awarded to the researchers by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Moreover, the deans of the faculties, heads of the departments, and members of the Senate graced the event.
Senior Prof. Madawa Chandratilake from the Department of Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine; Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; and Mr. Buddhika Wickramasingha from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Faculty of Science, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal and listed among the Top 10%.
Prof. Jeewantha Premaratne and Dr. A. G. M. J. Gunaratna from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science; and Ms. Gimanthi Sathsara Malalage from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal.
Senior Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage from the Department of Chemistry and Prof. B. T. S. D. P. Kannangara from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science; and Dr. Wasanthi Subasinghe from the Department of Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry and Mr. Buddhika Wickramasingha from the Centre for Sustainability, Faculty of Medicine, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q2-ranked journal.
Prof. G. P. G. M. D. Hapugoda from the Molecular Medicine Unit, Faculty of Medicine; and Prof. R. M. C. S. Ratnayake, Prof. Mangala Yatawara, and Prof. Dinushani Anupama Daranagama from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Prof. Udaya Priyantha Kankanamge Epa from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Prof. Dinesh R. Pandithavidana from the Department of Chemistry, Dr. D. M. P. V. Dissanayaka from the Department of Statistics and Computer Science, and Ms. Hiruni Eranga Wijesooriya from the Department of Physics and Electronics, Faculty of Science, were recognized with Senate Honours and cash prizes for their research published in Scopus Q3- and Q4-ranked journals.
Dr. Rasika Rajapaksha from the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Technology; and Ms. Samasthuwa Wasam Isuri Udara and Mr. Dhuveeshan Muthusamy from the Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, received Senate Honours for Scopus-Indexed Conference Full Papers.
Prof. Madurika Nanayakkara from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Dr. Pradeep Wishwanath Samarasekere from the Department Applied Computing, Faculty of Computing and Technology; and Mr. Buddhika Wickramasingha from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Faculty of Science, received Senate Honours for Indexed Book Chapters.
