The Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Kelaniya successfully organized a seminar titled “Music and Dance Beyond the Culture” in collaboration with the Faculty of Performing Arts of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (ICCR).

Five distinguished professors from India, who attended the event as resource persons, met with Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on 13^th November 2025 at the Vice Chancellor’s office. They discussed future collaborative opportunities in cultural and educational exchange between the University of Kelaniya and Banaras Hindu University during the meeting.

The visiting academics included, Prof. Rajesh Shah, Head, Department of Instrumental Music; Prof. Nikhil Bhagat; Prof. Rakesh Kumar; Prof. Chandan Vishwakarma; and Prof. Shubhankar Dey.

Senior Lecturer (Ms.) Lanka De Silva, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, participated in the meeting representing the University of Kelaniya. The event was coordinated by Senior Lecturer Chandana Ruwan Kumara, Department of Fine Arts.
