Samprasadini 2025 Concludes Successfully at the University of Kelaniya

The Samprasadini 2025 ceremony, organized by the Academic Establish Division of the University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on 19th November 2025 at the Senate Room of the University, under the chairmanship of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

Samprasadini is an annual flagship event with the noble purpose of honouring and appreciating the dedicated service rendered by the University’s retired Academic, Executive, and Academic Support Staff.

This prestigious ceremony reflects the University’s deep respect and gratitude toward those who have devoted their careers to advancing higher education, research excellence, and institutional development. Samprasadini serves not only as a moment of recognition, but also as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for years of commitment, intellectual contribution, and administrative leadership that have shaped the University’s journey.

The event brings together members of the university community to celebrate the distinguished careers of retirees, acknowledge their invaluable contributions, and strengthen the bonds between past and present staff. Through this annual gathering, the University of Kelaniya reaffirms its longstanding tradition of honoring its community and preserving a culture of respect, collegiality, and appreciation.

This year’s event paid tribute to a distinguished group of retirees who have rendered exemplary service to the University. The honoured individuals included Senior Prof. G. J. S. Wijesekara of the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities; Senior Prof. U. G. Herson Dias of the Department of Sinhala, Faculty of Humanities; Prof. R. Hasan of the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine; Senior Prof. J. M. D. Ariyarathna of the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies; and Dr. U. K. Abeywarna of the Department of Physics and Electronics, Faculty of Science. In addition, the University recognized the dedicated service of Mr. N. M. Arunashantha, Curator of the Landscape Division, and Mrs. A. Samaraweera, Programmer Cum System Analyst of the ICT Centre. Their remarkable contributions, spanning academic, technical, and administrative spheres, were warmly acknowledged during this memorable occasion.
