155th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya

The 155th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 22nd of December 2025 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.
The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1st session, 530 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, were conferred.
At this session, Ms Dona Chanchani Amodya Dasanayake was awarded the Professor K. Dharmasena Gold Medal and the Professor F. R. Jayasooriya Memorial Foundation Gold Medal, presented by the Department of Economics, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the First Class (Honours) and the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Economics. Ms Herath Mudiyanselage Sashini Ruwanthi Herath was awarded the Professor Piyadasa Ranasinghe Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Library and Information Science, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks for the B.A. Honours degree in Library and Information Science. Ms Haldola Yamanalage Gimhani Tharanga was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Professor Emeritus Mangala Ilangasinghe Memorial Foundation, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the first class and the highest marks in B.A. Honours in History. Ms Athapaththu Mudiyanselage Nelliya Ralalage Gedara Nadeesha Udayangani Herath was awarded the Professor Shelton Gunaratne Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Mass Communication, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Public Relations and Media Management. Ms Parana Gamage Nimesha Sewwandi was awarded the Professor M. P. Perera Memorial Gold Medal, offered by Rajamanthri Foundation, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Geography. Ms Piyumi Pramuditha Thathsarani Wattuhewa was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by Professor Emeritus N. K. Dangalle Foundation, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Development Studies. Mr Kulappu Thanthrige Don Thushara Srimal Kumara was awarded the Professor Kamal Karunanayake Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Political Science, and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the First Class (Honours) and the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Political Science. Ms Halneththi Eshini Indukil Gaithri Perera Gunarathna was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in International Studies. Ms Kiriwath Thuduwalage Osadi Umanga Jayasinghe was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Social Statistics. Ms Laksha Mudiyanselage Thakshala Udani Somasiri was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Philosophy.
During the 2nd session, 187 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, 30 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution, and 65 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, and 27 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Translation Studies, 66 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Film and Television Studies, and 155 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, were conferred.
At this session, Ms Sri Narayana Bamunu Mudiyanselage Kasuni Preethi Moragolla was awarded the Venerable Ratmalane Sri Dharmarama Thero Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, for obtaining the highest marks for the B.A. Honours degree examination of the Faculty of Social Sciences; the Gold Medal offered by the Bank of Ceylon, for obtaining the first class and the highest marks in the Faculty of Social Sciences; and the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Psychology. Ms Yapa Pathiranage Dinithi Navodya was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Tourism and Cultural Resource Management. Ms Addul Rahman Pathima Rikasa was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Peace and Conflict Resolution. Ms Salgamuwage Dinuka was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Social Sciences, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Sociology. Mr Ranasigha Arachchilale Pathum Lakmal Ranasingha was awarded the Dr D. B. Nihalsinghe Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, for the most outstanding performance in Film and Television Studies. Ms Hassan Farook Noor Nuzha was awarded the Professor D. M. Wickramasinghe Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, for the most outstanding performance in Translation Studies.
During the 3rd session, 464 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, and 04 graduands of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BET) Honours Degree, 03 graduands of the Bachelor of Science Honours in Computer Science Degree, and 04 graduands of the Information and Communication Technology (BICT) Honours Degree, offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology, were conferred.
At this session, Ms Hathurusinghe Niranga Sasangi De Silva was awarded the Venerable Kotahene Pragna Keerthi Thero Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, for obtaining the highest marks for the B.A. Honours degree examination of the Faculty of Humanities, and the Professor Daya Edirisinghe Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for demonstrating excellence in B.A. Honours in Korean Studies. Ms Binduge Anusha Nilmini was awarded the Gold Medal donated by Professor D. J. Vijayaratne Foundation, and the Professor Ananda Jayasekara Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Sinhala. Ms Puwakgolle Basnayake Mudiyanselage Dilki Malsha Sithari Basnayake was awarded the Dr M. H. Gunathilaka Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Drama and Theatre. Mr Arachchi Ralalege Gedara Asanka Kavidu Bandara Jayasundara was awarded the` Professor Chandrasiri Plliyaguru Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Image Arts. Ms Jeewan Sumathipalage Ruwini Srimalika was awarded the Professor Indra Dasanayake Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Hindi. Ms Rasin Achchillage Navodya Muthumalee was awarded the C. de S. Kulathilaka Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Performing Arts – Music. Ms Urala Liyanage Kaveesha Rangani was awarded the Professor Kulathilaka Kumarasinghe Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Literature Criticism. Ms Ranasinghe Arachchilage Ushani Saubhagya Dayananda was awarded the Professor S. L. Kekulawala Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Linguistics. Ms Konara Mudiyanselage Buddhima Patali Konara was awarded the Professor Sarath Amuugama Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Business and Academic Chinese. Ms Rahala Welele Nanditha Sardhanjalee was awarded the Professor Samson Weeratunga Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in French. Ms Wanninayaka Mudiyanselage Uthpala Maduwanthi Kumarasinghe was awarded the Professor W. S. Karunathilake Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in German. Ms Pitiwila Liyanage Dulanjalee Kaushalya was awarded the Professor Ariya Rajakaruna Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Japanese Language Studies. Ms Amarakoon Appuhamilage Niromi Thakshila was awarded the Ven. Kumburugamuwe Wajira Thero Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Buddhist Culture. Ms Peellamanage Geethika Sanjeewani Udayasiri was awarded the Professor Thilak Kariyawasam Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Buddhist Philosophy. Ms Yureshka Sankalpani Warnakulasooriya was awarded the P. A. P. A. Chandrasekara Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Buddhist Psychology. Ms Miyanawathura Ihala Gamage Pramodi Vishmika Gamage was awarded the Dr Antony Fernando Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Christian Culture. Ms Buwalu Patabandige Udani Buddhima was awarded the Professor Sumanapala Galmangoda Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Computer Studies. Ms Ranasingha Arachchilage Lakshika Chamodi was awarded the Professor S. A. G. Wijesinghe Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Scholarship Trust of the Faculty of Humanities, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Vastushastra.
