A Dhamma sermon and Dhamma discussion programme, organized by the Buddhist Students’ Association of the University of Kelaniya, was held on 23 December 2025 at the Mee Amba Sewana premises of the University.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Ven. Prof. Malwane Chandrathana Thero, Professor of the Department of Sinhala and Senior Counsellor of the Buddhist Students’ Association, and Ven. Bopeththe Somananda Thero, Lecturer of the Department of Library and Information Science and Senior Treasurer of the Association. The Dhamma sermon was delivered by renowned TV and radio Dhamma preacher Ven. Dr. Kukulpane Sudassi Thero.

The event was organized with the objective of sharing merits with all Sri Lankans who lost their lives in the recent disaster and invoking blessings for the New Year for the Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara and Kithsiri Mewan Vihara, Former Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Aggamahapandit Most Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Maha Thero; Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; as well as for all academic and non-academic staff members and people worldwide.

In parallel with the sermon, lamps were lit to seek blessings for the New Year, and a Belimal Dansal was also held.

The programme was coordinated with the contribution of Ven. Ganemulle Rathanapala Thero, President of the Buddhist Students’ Association. The meritorious activities were attended by students and academic and non-academic staff members of the University of Kelaniya.
