Inauguration ceremony of Diploma in Sports Management offered by the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education was held on the 24th of August 2018 at the Board room of the Faculty of Social Sciences. This inauguration ceremony for the first batch of the , was held with the objective of introducing course units and the academic staff members to newly enrolled students.

The event was held under the patronage of Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathne, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences and the keynote speech was delivered by Prof. B.L.H. Perera, Visiting Professor- Department of Sports Science and Physical Education. He expressed his ideas on the relationship between a diploma holder and a sports manager and the importance of this diploma for a sports manager.

Senior Lecturer P.V.D. Charika Wickramarathne, Head- Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, Senior Lecturer Nilantha Ramanayake, Coordinator- Diploma in Sports Management, academic staff members and the newly enrolled students graced the event.
