Annual Colours Awards Ceremony 2018

Annual Colours Awards 2016/17 jointly organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Council, with the objective of appreciating sports performance of the undergraduates during the academic year was held on the 17th of December 2018 at the Rose Garden Reception Hall, Kadawatha.

The event was held under the patronage of the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. D.M. Semasinghe. 214 sportsmen and 150 sportswomen received University Colours for 23 sports disciplines.

The best sportsman and sportswoman in each sports discipline were awarded best performer awards and those best players were as follows.

Moreover, the graduates who have obtained Colours Awards along with First Class Honours for their degree programmes were also appreciated at the event.

Accordingly, N.A.M.R. Nissanka who won Colours Awards for Badminton, Swimming, Netball, Track & Field, W.A.D.R. Fernando who won Colours Awards for Football, Scrabble, Tennis, W.I.T.P.N. Shashimal who won Colours Awards for Football, Y.B. Premarathne who won Colours Awards for Scrabble along with First Class Honours for B B Mgt (Special) in Marketing received Colours Awards for their excellent performances in both sports and education.

M.S.M.S. Kumara who won Colours Awards for Cricket, P.N.S. Pathirana who won Colours Awards for Chess, G.A.U.E. Ganepola who won Colours Awards for Basketball, Netball, N.B. Helarathne who won Colours Awards for Basketball along with First Class Honours for BSc (Special) Degree received Colours Awards for their excellent performances in both sports and education. D.H.H. Niwunhella who won Colours Awards for Scrabble, D.A. Silva who won Colours Awrads for Chess, P.N.S. Pathirannehe who won Colours Awards for Chess, M.M.P. Shashikala who won Colours Awards for Swimming along with First Class Honours for BSc (Special) Degree received Colours Awards for their excellent performances in both sports and education. D.P.I.L. Prasangika who won Colours Awards for Elle, H.A.C. Hettiarachchi who won Colours Awards for Swimming along with First Class Honours for BA (Special) Degree received Colours Awards for their excellent performances in both sports and education.

F.S. Rishard won the Trophy for the Best Fresher Sportswoman of the Year 2016/17 while H.D.H.G. Kaushalya won the Trophy for the Best Fresher Sportsman of the Year 2016/17. W.R.W. Wickramasinghe won the Trophy for the Best Sportswoman of the Year 2016/17 while N.D.G. Lasantha won the Trophy for the Best Sportsman of the Year 2016/17.

Moreover, the undergraduates who won Gold Medals in group and individual competitions at the Inter- University Games were also appreciated.
