Senior Assistant Librarian, Dr. M. I. G. Suranga Sampath of the University of Kelaniya was awarded the HUST Academic Excellence Award for the research papers published in peer reviewed journals indexed in Science Citation Index in the academic year 2017/2018.

The awarding ceremony was held on the 21^st of June 2019 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China.
