The opening of the Bodiprakaraya with the golden fence and Patimaagaraya for the Bodhi tree at Kelaniya University premises which was built on charity funds was unveiled by Prof. D.M Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kelaniya on 01^st of November on the commemorating 144 year celebrations of the Vidyalankara Pirivena.

The religious activities for the Bodhi Praakara were performed with due respect. On this occasion, the university population and their families were given blessings. 

For this occasion, Prof. Ven. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakhitha, the chief incumbent of Kelaniya temple, Prof. Sarath Amunugama, former Vice-Chancellor, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans and Senior Lecturer Dr. Ven. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero, president of the renovating committee of the Bodhiya, Prof. Ven. Iduragare Dhammarathana Thero, secretary of the above mentioned committee and all the academic and non- academic staff members participated in this ceremony.
