The inauguration Ceremony of the Humanities Undergraduate Research Symposium 2022 (HUG 2022) organized by the Research Centre of the Faculty of Humanities was held on the 24^th of February 2023 from 9.00 am onwards at the Sri Dharmaloka Hall of the University of Kelaniya.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice–Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya graced the event as the Chief guest while Emeritus Professor Sarath Amunugama participated as the keynote speaker.

The research symposium was conducted with the objective of encouraging undergraduates to engage in research. 190 abstracts were submitted to this research symposium by 215 presenters. Senior Lecturer Kaumadee Bamunusinghe and Lecturer Asitha Amarakoon served as the organizers of this conference.

Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean - Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Anjalee Wickramasinghe, Director of the Research Center - Faculty of Humanities, Heads of all departments, academic staff, non-academic staff, and undergraduates participated in this event.
