The third annual Faculty of Medicine Excellence Awards ceremony was held on Thursday 1^st August 2019.   Pioneered by the Faculty of Medicine, this awards scheme is the first of its kind in the Sri Lankan University system, designed to enhance the quality of the study programmes offered by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya.

The ceremony included Dean’s List awards to recognize outstanding academic performance among students and Teaching Excellence Awards to recognize excellence in teaching scholarship. Dean’s Awards for student research were also presented at this year’s ceremony.

Senior Professor Prasantha Wijesinghe, Dean, Faculty of Medicine graced the ceremony as chief guest and the event was well attended by students and staff of the faculty. The outstanding performances of 25 teachers and 33 students from both the MBBS and BSc Speech and Hearing Sciences were recognized at this prestigious ceremony.  Dean’s Awards for research poster presentations were presented to six student research groups from the MBBS programme who received the highest marks for their research posters.
