The Asian Conference for Media and Communication (ACMC), the International Research Conference was held virtually from 27^th to 29^th October 2022 at the University of Kelaniya.

The conference was organized by The Asian Congress for Media Communication (ACMC) in partnership with the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Kelaniya. The opening ceremony of the conference was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Mediated Realities: Challenges and Opportunities’ which addressed the profound changes that occurred in media and communication during the pandemic and post-pandemic periods, especially in the fields of mass media and communication.

Emeritus Professor Sunanda Mahendra from the Department of Mass Communication and Dr. Elena E. Pernia, from the University of the Philippines, delivered keynote speeches at the opening ceremony, while the honorable chief guest of the occasion, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya graced the occasion with her insightful opening address. Professor M. M. Gunathilake, Dean – The Faculty of Social Sciences, welcomed the invitees and Dr. Azman Azwan Azmawathi, President of ACMC delivered the opening remarks. Also, Senior Lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe, Head of the Department of Mass Communication delivered the thanking speech, winding up the opening ceremony.

Scholars from Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America presented at the conference while academics, scholars, and other invited guests witnessed the event.
