The Inauguration Ceremony of the Department of Information Technology as the 13th department at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya

, and the establishment of the department at a new building space were held on 3rd of November 2022 from 09.00 am onwards at the new department premises. The Department Website also was launched by the Vice-Chancellor on this occasion.

This prestigious occasion was honored by the presence of Senior Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya as the Chief Guest and Prof. M. M. Gunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences as the Guest of Honor. Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Senior Prof. D. M. Semasinghe, Former Vice-Chancellor, Senior Lecturer Mr. Chamara Kuruppuarachchi, Head of the Department of Information Technology, Registrar, Librarian, other Heads of Departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities, academic and non-academic staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences graced the ceremony.
