A book on ‘Balanced Economic Development’ - An Overview of Theory and Practice from the Perspective of Welfare, Environment and Resource Economics compiled by Prof. Ajith Dissanayake

of the Department of Economics of the University of Kelaniya was launched on the 25th of November 2022 at 2.00 pm, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Kelaniya. The book launch was held under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. The keynote speech of the occasion was delivered by Mr. Wasantha Athukorala, an internationally ranked, leading research professor of economics in Sri Lanka.

Senior Professor Chandana P. Udawatta, the Deputy Chairman of the University Grants Commission, all the deans of the university, academic staff, representatives of Alumni Association, scholars related to the Department of Economics of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and a number of individuals related to the field of Economics in the Universities of Sabaragamuwa, Sri Jayewardenepura, Colombo and Moratuwa attended the event.

Compiled under 13 different principles and concepts of economics, this book is compiled with the aim of achieving a balanced economic approach under a common but nationally unique identity in a global context.
