The launch of “Prateksha - 02”; Translated short story collection and “Bhasarnava” Translation day was held on 09^th

of January, 2020 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The event was organized by the Department of Linguistics, University of Kelaniya. 

There were altogether 46 short stories translated by the final year undergraduates of Translation Studies and Translation Methods degree programs. Books were given to the parents of undergraduates by the undergraduates themselves. 

Certificates were given to the winners of all four years of undergraduates who took part in Translation Day competition. The objective of this event is to encourage undergraduates enrolled in Translation Studies and Translation Methods degree programs to excel in the field of translation.

An introduction speech on behalf of the Department of Linguistics was given by Emeritus Prof. R.M.W. Rajapakse. Emeritus Prof. Walter Marasinghe delivered a special speech at the event.

Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Prof. M.M. Gunathilake, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, Senior Lecturer Sudath Senarath, Head- Department of Linguistics, academic staff members, Commissioner General and the officers of the Department of Official Languages,  parents and undergraduates of the Department of Linguistics along with general public took part in the occasion.
