The 446th meeting of Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) was held on the 8^th of January 2022 at the Senate Room of University of Kelaniya.

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) was established under the Universities Act 16 of 1978. The CVCD meets once a month in one of the 24 member institutions of the CVCD, to consider and discuss matters of common interest to the universities, and to advise the University Grants Commission on such matters.   

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva,Vice-Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, was elected as the Chairperson of the CVCD for the year 2022. According to long-standing tradition, the first meeting was held at the university for the year.

Seventeen Vice-Chancellors of state universities and two Rectors of Campuses participated physically in the event while two others participated virtually through video conferencing. Several important matters pertaining to the higher education sector; including progress in the recommencement of face-to-face learning activities, examinations, and convocations, as well as vaccination of staff and students were discussed during the meeting.
