The 140^th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 4^th of January 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.

The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1^st session, 499 graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, 22 graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Humanities, 30 graduands of Master of Business Studies Degree (Chinese intake 1^st batch) first time offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies to Chinese students, and 1 graduand of Master of Crop Protection & Plant Biotechnology(One Year) Degree offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies were conferred.

During the 2^nd session, 383 graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, and 137 graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Humanities were conferred.

During the 3^rd session, 408 graduands of Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, 101 graduands of Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree offered by the Faculty of Humanities, and 9 graduands of Bachelor of Business Management (General) Degree offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies were conferred.

Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, Kithsiri Mewan Vihara, Former Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Aggamahapandit, Most Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Maha Thera, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Registrar, Librarian, Deans, Directors, and Chairpersons of the Units and Centers, Heads of the Departments, academic, and non-academic staff members and parents of the graduates were among the participants of this special ceremony.
