The 104^th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 20^th of December 2018 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

During the first session, eleven graduates of Doctor of Philosophy Degree, five graduates of Master of Philosophy Degree, three hundred & ninety- five graduates of Master of Arts Degree, forty- four diploma holders of Postgraduate diploma offered by the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies were awarded the degrees.

Moreover, Ven. Prof. K.L. Dhammajoti Thero delivered a speech on ‘Criteria for a Truly Unified Buddhism’, based on the citation by Ven. Prof. Kotapitiye Rahula Thero, Director- Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies.

During the second session, ninety- six graduates of Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy, eighty- six graduates of Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree, thirty- two graduates of Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Business Technology, twenty graduates of Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Entrepreneurship, thirty-nine graduates of Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Financial Management, fifty- two graduates of Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance, eighty graduates of Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Human Resources and ninety graduates of Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing were awarded the degrees.

Moreover, Mr. Lakshman Silva, Director & Chief Executive Officer, DFCC Bank PLC delivered a speech on ‘Graduate Employability in the Banking Industry’, based on the citation by Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies.

Thripitaka Vagishvaracharya, Mahopadhyaya, Pandith, the most Venerable Welamitiyawe Dharmakirthi Sri Kusala Dhamma Thero, – the Chief Prelate of the Colombo and Chilaw regions and the Chancellor of University of Kelaniya presided over the event. Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes, Directors of Institutes, Heads of Departments, academic staff members and parents were among the participants of this special ceremony.
