An opportunity has arisen for a 3-year PhD studentship within the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Kelaniya, funded by the NIHR Global Health Research Unit and Network for Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease in South Asia.

The NIHR GHRU is a research collaboration between Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom which focuses on the creation of an interdisciplinary environment which fosters the development and implementation of acceptable, equitable, efficient, scalable and sustainable approaches to reduce the burden of Type-2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Who can apply?

Citizens of Sri Lanka:

• below 40 years of age
• who have graduated in medicine/ science or social science with first or second class honors from a local/ foreign University recognized by the University Grants Commission
• Those with prior research experience or a master’ degree will be given preference
