A lecture and practical session on Chinese Traditional Acupuncture Medicine jointly organized by the Confucius Institute, University of Kelaniya and Chinese Cultural Centre, Colombo was held on the 16th of December 2018 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Humanities. The prime objective of this lecture was to introduce traditional Acupuncture Medicine.

The lecture was conducted by Prof. Ron Peijing, Deputy Director- Traditional Acupuncture Medicine Research Centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine University and this was novel experience for the academic staff members and the undergraduates since the lecture was conducted along with the practical sessions.

Annual Board Meeting of the Confucius institute, University of Kelaniya was held on the 11th of December 2018 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Humanities. The objective of this meeting was to summarize the annual progress of the Confucius Institute of the University.

Prof. Zhou Zenyang, President- Chogquing Normal University, Mr. Lei Yong, Director of Confucius Institute Management Office, Prof. Guan Pin, Director of Office for International Exchanges graced the occasion representing Chogquing Normal University- China, which is a partner university of the Confucius Institute of the University of Kelaniya.

The establishment of a temporary Emergency Care Unit under the Medical Centre of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 04th of December 2018. This temporary Emergency Care Unit was declared open for the benefit of the staff members and undergraduates until the establishment of a permanent Emergency Care Unit. This was planned with the objective of enhancing the quality of the services provided by the Medical Centre.

The donation of two modern beds was also took place in relation to this event and the donation was made by Dr. Wijayananda Wickrama who was an undergraduate of the first batch (1959- 1963 batch) of the University of Kelaniya.

The third programme of the programme series: “Love and Humanity” organized by the Centre for Gender Studies under the assistance of the Student Welfare Division, University of Kelaniya was held on the 12th of December 2018 at Yakkaduwe Pagnarama Boys’ Hostel of the University of Kelaniya. The prime objective of this programme which aimed at first year undergraduates, was to develop cooperation among undergraduates through love and humanity.

Director of Sri Lanka Foundation, Veteran Mental Health Analyst and Chartered Biologist, Dr. Saman Weerasinghe was the resource person of the event and he expressed his ideas on how to lead a meaningful university life and thus, how to develop the thinking power. It was a novel and fantastic experience for the undergraduates as a result of the practical activities.
