The books entitled Aňduren Eliyaṭa Magak, authored by Professor Nedalagamuwe Dhammadinna Thero, and Punci Māyākāri, a translation by Lecturer Ashani Shalika Ranasinghe, were officially launched on the 18^th of September 2024, at the K14 Auditorium. The event was hosted by the Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities.

H. A. V. Eranga Lakmini Gunasinghe, a third-year Japanese Honours student from the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, secured first place at the 35^th Japanese Language Speech Contest, organized by the Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA). The competition was held on the 7^th of September 2024, at the Sasakawa Centre in Sri Lanka.
