Master of Fine Arts Degree Show organized by the postgraduate students of the Department of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya was held on 28th and 29th October 2019 at the JDA Perera Gallery, Colombo.

 

“Chinese Food Culture Festival” organized by the Confucius Institute, University of Kelaniya with the objective of introducing Chinese food culture to Sri Lanka was held on the 24th of October 2019 at the Auditorium of Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya.

The event was held under the patronage of Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathna, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Kumari Priyanka Jayasooriya, Director- Confucius Institute, academic staff members of Department of Modern Languages, staff members of Confucius Institute and undergraduates also graced the event.

The Department of Modern Languages plans to offer Spanish Language as a main subject of B.A. Degree from 2018 /2019 academic year. A Spanish Language expert has been dispatched to the University of Kelaniya by Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.

Spanish Language expert Ms. Ana Fernandez Ruda met the Vice chancellor at the University of Kelaniya on the 03rd of September 2019 at the Vice- Chancellors Office. Present at the occasion were Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities and Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilrukshi Rathnayake, Head- Department of Modern Languages.

Spanish Language is one of the most popular languages in the world and Sri Lankan students will be benefitted in many ways by learning Spanish language as a part of their Degree.

A Chinese Tea Culture Event jointly organized by the Confucius Institute of the University of Kelaniya and China Cultural Center of Sri Lanka was held on the 06th of September 2019 at Kotahena Pragnakeerthi Memorial Hall. It was held with the objective of gaining an experience of Traditional Chinese Tea Culture of Yunnang Province in China.

Present at the occasion were Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, academic staff members of the Confucius Institute, delegates from Yunnang University and undergraduates.
