The Political Journal published by the Political Science Students’ Association of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya was launched on the 17^th of December 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The journal was launched with the objective of improving writing skills and knowledge of the undergraduates who follow B.A. (Special) Degree in Political Science.

Dr. Sagara Chandrasekara, Human Resource Development Institute, University of Colombo was the resource person of the event and he emphasized on the way to conduct and publish research studies.

The inauguration ceremony of Master of Social Sciences and Master of Arts Degree Programmes offered by the University of Kelaniya was held on the 16^th of December 2018 at the Dharmaloka Hall.

Prof. W.A. Weerasooriya, Professor in Library and Information Science delivered the Keynote address of the event.

International Conference on Social Sciences- ICSS organized for the fourth consecutive time by the Research Centre of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 13th and 14th of December 2018 at the premises of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The prime objectives of the conference themed “Asia in Search of New Global Order in 21st Century”, were to establish new research culture and improve research skills of the undergraduates.

Around 101 research papers relevant to the fields of Economics Trade & Regional Cooperation, Heritage Culture & Tourism, Mass Media, Communication, Information Management & Technology, Reconciliation & National Development were presented at the conference.
