The University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Library of the University of Kelaniya organized a two-day workshop on Library Housekeeping and Operation Support for university library attendants. Its inauguration ceremony was held on the 22nd of July 2019 at the auditorium of the Library of the University of Kelaniya.

An all-night pirith chanting ceremony and alms giving ceremony for the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute affiliated to the University of Kelaniya was held on the 18th and 19th of July 2019 at the institute premises.
Senior Assistant Librarian, Dr. M. I. G. Suranga Sampath of the University of Kelaniya was awarded the HUST Academic Excellence Award for the research papers published in peer reviewed journals indexed in Science Citation Index in the academic year 2017/2018.
