Considering the inability to conduct the convocation ceremony due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation of the country and the delay that it has caused upon graduands’ receiving of their degree certificates, it has been decided to conduct the 115th General Convocation virtually at Dharmaloka Hall of the University on 2020.12.11 at 9.30 a.m. Necessary steps have been taken to live stream (online) the convocation. Accordingly, the graduands and their family members will be able to watch the first virtual convocation of the university live

VACANCY NOTIFICATION - POST OF RESEARCH ASSISTANT

 (AHEAD/RA3/DOR/KLN/SSC/OVAA/ 01)

Applications are invited from eligible citizens of Sri Lanka for above mentioned position to be posted to the Development Oriented Research (DOR) program under the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operation in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya. The appointment will be contractual and made for one year initially which is renewable for another upon satisfactory work performance. The selected person will be offered a salary of Rs 50,000 / = per month all-inclusive and subject to EPF and ETF statutes of Sri Lanka.

Job Profile

Research assistant should be responsible for each research activities in the research project such as conducting the literature survey, questionnaire designing, conducting pilot survey, organizing workshops, training enumerators, monitoring field works, managing data collection and data analysis, and writing papers. In addition, research assistant should support in all project related administrative and logistic works such as attending necessary meetings, documentation and maintain the Budget (PAT) etc.   

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A special degree obtained from recognized University with Second Class lower or above.
• Experience in research project including field work.
• Knowledge on SPSS and STATA.
• Age below 40 years.
• Ability to travel as and when required.
• Fluent in English (English communication skill and advanced writing skill) and Computer literate.
• Preferred professional skills (Strong Work Ethics, Positive Attitude, Good Communication Skills, Time Management skills, Problem-Solving Skills, Team Player, and Ability to accept and learn from Criticism.
