Prof. Nawarathna Banda appointed as the New Head of the Department of Economics

Prof. Nawarathna Banda was appointed as the New Head of the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.

Prof. Nawarathna Banda was appointed as the New Head of the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.

The 112th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 24th of December 2019 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
During the first session, three hundred and thirty- six graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences were awarded the degrees.
Moreover, the convocation speech for the first session was delivered by Emeritus Prof. Kulathilaka Kumarasinghe, Former Dean- Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya.
During the second session, one hundred and twenty graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Humanities, two hundred and thirteen graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences & seven graduands of Bachelor of Science Degree offered by Faculty of Science were awarded the degrees.
Moreover, the convocation speech for the second session was delivered by Emeritus Prof. M.J.S. Wijerathna, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Kelaniya.
Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya presided over the event. Deans of Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes, Directors of Institutes, Heads of Departments, academic staff members, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar, non-academic staff members and parents were among the participants of this special ceremony.

The Inauguration Ceremony of Diploma in Disaster Management - 08th Intake offered by the Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya was held on 21st 0f December, 2019 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The first series of the Excavation of Mantai Collaborative Archaeological Research Project was held from 21st of November to 18th of December, 2019 at Mantai Ancient Port Site.
