The launch of Economics Students' Association Annual Journal -2018 organized by Economics Students' Association, Department of Economics, University of Kelaniya was held on the 29th of January 2019 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The journal was launched with the objective of enhancing the research skills and academic writing skills of the students and disseminating the new knowledge to the society.
Two Undergraduates from the University of Kelaniya for Excavations in Kapilwastu : For the first time in history, two undergraduates from the University of Kelaniya got selected as the researchers for a collaborative archaeological research project which is being conducted annually in Kapilawstu by the Department of Archaeology- Nepal, Lumbini Development Trust and Durham University-England.
Mr. Ignacio Vitbrica Hamilton, First Secretary for Cultural and Press Affairs of the Embassy of Spain for India and Sri Lanka called upon the Vice Chancellor Prof. D.M. Semasinghe at the Office of the Vice Chancellor on the 24th of January 2019, for a discussion on reviewing the guest lecturer programme of Spanish language. Further discussions were held on scholarships for short term training and the selection of an Intern for teaching of Spanish at the university.
A workshop on “Gender Mainstreaming in University Administration” for non- academic staff members organized by the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Kelaniya was held on the 24th of January 2019 at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre. The workshop was held with the objective of promoting awareness on gender mainstreaming within the non-academic staff members of the University.
