Discussion between the University of Kelaniya and the Michigan State University, USA was held on the 17th of December 2018 at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor. Exploring the possibilities of future collaborations, especially in undergraduate training and encouraging research collaborations between the two universities.

The discussion was led by Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor representing the University of Kelaniya and Prof. Sherman Garnett, Dean- James Madison College & Prof. Linda Racioppi, Associate Dean for Research International Relations- James Madison College representing the Michigan State University.

The new official website of the University of Kelaniya was launched on the 04th of January 2018 at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor.

The event was held under the patronage of the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. D.M. Semasinghe. Present at the occasion were Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Senior Lecturer Dr. Dhammika Weerasinghe, Director- Information & Communication Technology Centre, academic staff members and staff members of the Information & Communication Technology Centre.

The academic staff members who contributed in winning the AHEAD Project were appreciated on the 02nd of January 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies.

The event was held under the patronage of the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. D.M. Semasinghe. The staff members who composed the project proposal of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies relevant to the AHEAD Project were specially appreciated.

Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 01st of January 2019 at the Dharmaloka Hall of the University. The prime objective of the Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony which is being held annually since 2007, was to appreciate the service of the academic & non- academic staff members during the last year and further encourage them.

Letters of Appreciation were awarded to 07 academic staff members & 33 non- academic staff members appreciating their service for special contributions and 89 non- academic staff members who have taken minimum no. of leaves in the year 2018 also received Letters of Appreciation.
