The academic staff members who contributed in winning the AHEAD Project were appreciated on the 02nd of January 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies.

The event was held under the patronage of the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. D.M. Semasinghe. The staff members who composed the project proposal of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies relevant to the AHEAD Project were specially appreciated.

Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 01st of January 2019 at the Dharmaloka Hall of the University. The prime objective of the Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony which is being held annually since 2007, was to appreciate the service of the academic & non- academic staff members during the last year and further encourage them.

Letters of Appreciation were awarded to 07 academic staff members & 33 non- academic staff members appreciating their service for special contributions and 89 non- academic staff members who have taken minimum no. of leaves in the year 2018 also received Letters of Appreciation.

The 104th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 20th of December 2018 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

During the first session, eleven graduates of Doctor of Philosophy Degree, five graduates of Master of Philosophy Degree, three hundred & ninety- five graduates of Master of Arts Degree, forty- four diploma holders of Postgraduate diploma offered by the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies were awarded the degrees.

Moreover, Ven. Prof. K.L. Dhammajoti Thero delivered a speech on ‘Criteria for a Truly Unified Buddhism’, based on the citation by Ven. Prof. Kotapitiye Rahula Thero, Director- Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies.

Ms. Franca Maria Murna, Officer in charge of Eastern Neighbouring Countries, Russia, Asia, Oceania and North America from the International Relations Division of Bologna University, Italy visited the university on 11th December 2018 to introduce the Erasmus+ TOOLKIT Project and to hold preliminary discussions prior to the commencement of the project in 2019. Ms. Murna called upon the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Lakshman Seneviratne and conducted an awareness session for the academic and administrative staff of the university. The visit was coordinated by the Centre for International Affairs.
