The third programme of the programme series: “Love and Humanity” organized by the Centre for Gender Studies under the assistance of the Student Welfare Division, University of Kelaniya was held on the 12th of December 2018 at Yakkaduwe Pagnarama Boys’ Hostel of the University of Kelaniya. The prime objective of this programme which aimed at first year undergraduates, was to develop cooperation among undergraduates through love and humanity.

Director of Sri Lanka Foundation, Veteran Mental Health Analyst and Chartered Biologist, Dr. Saman Weerasinghe was the resource person of the event and he expressed his ideas on how to lead a meaningful university life and thus, how to develop the thinking power. It was a novel and fantastic experience for the undergraduates as a result of the practical activities.

A workshop organized for the provincial journalists by the Communication & Media Unit, University of Kelaniya was held on the 27th of December 2018 at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre. The prime objective of the workshop was to make the journalists of Kelaniya and Gampaha regions aware of the internal affairs of the University and expanding their knowledge on provincial journalism.

More than 50 provincial journalists representing both government & private sector radio channels, TV channels, newspapers and web sites participated in the workshop.

The second programme of the programme series: “Love and Humanity” organized by the Centre for Gender Studies under the assistance of the Student Welfare Division, University of Kelaniya was held on the 03rd of December 2018 at Bandaranaike Girls’ Hostel of the University of Kelaniya. The prime objective of this programme which aimed at first year undergraduates, was to develop cooperation among undergraduates through love and humanity.

Mr. Kapila Rasnayake, Founder- Voice of Humans Foundation was the resource person of the event and he expressed his ideas on how to lead a meaningful university life and thus, how to develop the thinking power. The programme was conducted under the participation of the first year undergraduates of Bandaranaike Girls’ Hostel, Sangamiththa Girls’ Hostel and Viharamahadevi Girls’ Hostel and it was a novel experience for the undergraduates as a result of the practical activities.

07th lecture of the lecture series on heritage studies organized by the Centre for Heritage Studies of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 26th of November 2018 at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre. The lecture was held with the objective of commemorating the great heroes on behalf of bicentennial celebration of 1818 rebellion.

Senior Prof. Anura Manathunga, Director- Centre for Heritage Studies conducted the lecture emphasizing on the service rendered by the natives including the Monarawila Keppetipola associating information mentioned in classics and folk tales.

Moreover, “Walapane Satana” short film by Munidasa Punchihewa was also screened at the programme.
