Sayuri Mendis, a third-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, following the BSc Honours in Sports Science, delivered a strong performance at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games – Summer, held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, on July 21, 2025, finishing 6th in the semi-final of the Women’s 400 metres with a time of 54.26 seconds.
Rasara Wijesuriya, a third-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, following the BSc Honours in Sports Science, set a new Sri Lankan record in the Women’s 10,000 metres with a remarkable time of 32:52.20 on the 21st of July 2025 at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games – Summer. She secured 8th place in the finals, marking the highest-ever placement by a Sri Lankan athlete in the history of the World University Games.
